**Born to LN Pradhan and Late Ganga Pradhan at Rongli, East Sikkim, Shital Pradhan (July 18, 1978) is a primary school teacher by profession at Sakyong Chisopani JHS (East Sikkim). His other passion lies in writing articles. He is associated with different local newspapers and other media since early 2000. Shital Pradhan started his print-media journey in 2003 when he joined Weekend Review, a weekly newspaper from Gangtok. A Botany Honours graduate from Sikkim Government College at Tadong, his articles had been published on several English newspapers.

In 2005, he published and edited 'Himalayan Review', the first English weekly newspaper from Singtam for a brief period until he joined the Government Service. From 2005 to 2010 he was posted at Burung Primary School. Shital Pradhan worked as an editor of 'Explore Sikkim' (first) monthly magazine published from Singtam in 2007 for a brief period.

Between 2011-2012, he was at Dalapchand Secondary School where he started ‘Mile Post’, a monthly school newspaper for Dalapchand SS, first of its kind in the state. The monthly news activities of the school and the articles written by the students are published in ‘Mile Post’. Since July 2011, Shital Pradhan, looking after Publicity of Singtam Basibiyalo, a monthly literary and cultural meet had started editing ‘Singtam Basibiyalo’, a monthly news letter.

Well known among the media fraternity in Sikkim, Shital Pradhan is a student of Sikkim History and had been related with feature story writings. His article on Sikkim Rocket mail 1935 is a landmark discovery in Sikkim history, in one of his reviews he received a small note that read 'Lost in 1935-refound by Shital Pradhan in 2003'. His other news articles too have had impacts on society. Through his detailed based article along with chemical analysis reports on bacteria infested thirst-quencher in Sikkim, the cold-drink got banned. His report on neglected century old Shiv Mandir at Rongli is transformed into beautiful marbled mandir.

Shital Pradhan is the longest running blogger from Sikkim. His Proud to be a Sikkimese (http://sikhim.blogspot.com/) blog is the most popular blog on Sikkim with more than 2 lakhs page views and he started this blog in May 2007. This blog is more as an encyclopaedia of Sikkim. Articles and essays on different subjects of Sikkim along with rare photographs are published in the blog.

Presently Shital Pradhan is a weekly columnist for Sikkim Express, the daily newspaper from Gangtok since 2009.

On April 10, 2010, Shital Pradhan was felicitated by the Sanghrash NGO from Rongli, East Sikkim for bringing out articles on 'History of Sikkim' at Sikkim Express newspaper and also for his blog on Sikkim History 'Proud to be a Sikkimese'. He received the citation and a shawl from the hand of Prashant Tamang, Indian Idol 3 and Dhiraj Pradhan, BDO Regu.

Shital Pradhan’s blog “Proud to be a Sikkimese” had won the second spot in two separate categories of the Best of Indian Blogosphere (BoIB) 2010 polls. Proud to be a Sikkimese, a blog that focuses on news and history of Sikkim State was nominated along with nine blogs from Indian States under the category Arts & Hobby Blogs and Entertainment, News & Media for the final round. Online voting was conducted from January 22, 2011 till February 13th, 2011 that resulted in the selection of top five winners.

Shital Pradhan was felicitated on June 18, 2011 for his popular blog “Proud to be a Sikkimese” by Himali Sangh, State Level Youth Awarded NGO from Dalapchand. Narendra Chettri, Deputy Director ICDS handed over a memento to Pradhan in presence of Mr. TN Poudyal, President Himali Sangh.

Shital Pradhan had also been featured in ‘Miles to Go’, a popular weekly Television Interview program hosted by Nirmal Mangar for Nayuma Channel on March 2011.

Apart from this, Shital Pradhan is a known name in philately. Two time state level Gold medallist in 2004 and 2007, he had exhibited his philatelic exhibits in different place including Gangtok, Jalpaiguri, Berhampore, Kalimpong, Siliguri, Kurseong and other. He had represented Sikkim in Stamp Show held at Kolkata in 2005 and at National level Stamp Exhibition (INPEX) held at Chennai in 2008 and had received consolation prizes on the occasions.

Shital Pradhan received Sapphire award at 'Stampmania 2009' the First National One Frame Philatelic Exhibition held on December 2009 organised by Baroda Philatelic Society, Vadodara. Shital Pradhan had received the award for his theme 'Sikkim through Philately'.

Shital Pradhan won two bronze medals for his single exhibit on “Sikkim through Philately” and on literary competition section for his article on Sikkim Rocket Mail Experiment 1935 published at Talk Sikkim, a monthly magazine from Gangtok at Stamps of India National Exhibition held at Okhla, New Delhi last December 2010.

In 2011, he was felicitated by Sikkim Newar Guthi at Sikkim Government College, Tadong (Gangtok) on the occasion of Indra Jatra. In 2012, Singtam Basibiyalo, a literary forum of Singtam felicitated for his contribution towards journalism, philately and Sikkim heritage. Burung JHS felicitated Shital Pradhan in 2015.

Posakay Primary School, East Sikkim felicitated Pradhan on the occasion of a Decadal Ceremony of the school in 2016.

2017 saw Shital Pradhan being felicitated by Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology on the occasion of Kaalrav 2017 on March 5, 2017 and Jan Kalyan Sang, Sang-Martam at ATTC Hall, Burdang.

Later in the year, he was among the 25 teachers selected for the Nation Builder Award as Best Teachers by the Rotary Club of Gangtok during the occasion of Teacher's Day 2017.
